<sup>The 1-X400 series of linear stroke piston-type pneumatic actuators are engineered using advanced cold-drawn hydraulic pipes as cylinder bodies. The honing and extrusion processes effectively minimize the wear on dynamic sealing elements, greatly enhancing the longevity of these actuators. Unlike membrane-type actuators of similar specifications, these provide a superior thrust. They boast a straightforward structure, a lightweight and compact design, establishing them as top-tier pneumatic linear stroke actuators.

Available in both double-acting and single-acting models, the 1-X400 series actuators excel in versatility. When paired with linear stroke valves, they adeptly handle regulation or on-off control. With additional components like pneumatic control valves and quick exhaust valves, they ensure rapid cutoffs with precision, achieving cutoff times as swift as 1S, 2S, 3S, and 4S, enhancing operational efficiency.</sup>

The single-action (S.A.) actuators feature a spring-opposed piston activated by air pressure, offering a seamless fail-safe action. In the event of air pressure loss, the compressed spring load triumphs over the pressure load, moving the stem to open or close the valve port in alignment with the required fail-safe action, ensuring exceptional stability even when the plug load varies.

 

 

 

Conversely, compared to double-action (D.A.) actuators, single-action models present lower net thrusts. Their dimensions tend to increase progressively with higher supplied air pressure and extended required strokes.

Double-action actuators with integrated return springs present a promising balance: the full thrust from air pressure on one side of the piston is counteracted partly by the spring and partly by air pressure on the opposing side of the piston. This configuration enables a fail-safe action without requiring complex and potentially unreliable pneumatic systems, and importantly, the net thrust of air pressure is only slightly diminished by the spring's resistance, maximizing performance.

DESIGN DETAILS

PRESSURE/TEMPERATURE RATING
The remarkably robust design can withstand up to 8 bar, which marks both the standard supply pressure for the cylinder and the maximum pressure the sliding piston seals can endure. Each actuator undergoes thorough hydrostatic testing at an impressive 10.5 bar before it is dispatched. The operational temperature boundaries for continuous service at 8 bar are meticulously outlined in the provided materials table.

ACTUATOR BODY
Crafted from precision-engineered steel tubes, the cylinder ensures exceptional performance.
The interior is expertly lapped, coated with chromium for durability, and polished for the smoothest operation.
Heads are available in aluminum or steel castings offering diverse shapes tailored to fulfill assembly requirements on valves or operations.

They feature optional forks on the top or bottom head for flexible pivoting assemblies, suitable for butterfly valve actuation.
Additionally, a flange option is available for secure, robust attachment to valve yokes, perfect for globe or angle valve actuation.

PISTON
The piston, crafted from high-strength steel, is equipped with either a single (S.A.) or dual (D.A.) rubber sealing rings and includes either dual (S.A.) or single (D.A.) loaded-teflon guiding skids for enhanced performance.

STEM
The stem, precision-machined from stainless steel, is ground and rolled with threaded ends exposed outside the cylinder. Connection to the valve stem is secured using a two-piece block that is bored and threaded, ensuring a firm grasp on the screwed ends.
A double bronze bushing in the lower head guides the stem, which is also equipped with a felt ring for wiping and a sealing ring (exceptions apply to S.A. direct-acting actuators) providing robust protection against leakage.
